How to make a Snowball

It’s easy!

All you need is some waste paper and a container with some warm water. The final colour of your snowball depends on the colour of your paper, here are a few finished ones:

So, when you’re ready, follow these simple instructions:

1. Select any sort of paper (eg. 16 sheets of A4 scrap paper; 4 sheets of tabloid newpaper) and run some warm water into a container.

2. Immerse the paper in water stirring vigorously to encourage it to shred.

3. Scoop out a generous handful of paper…

4. …and mould it as if you have real snow in your hand – it’s instinctive! Squeeze out the water as you shape it.

5. Continue rolling it round in your hand as you squeeze, making it into a rounded shape.

6. Your snowball needs to be approx 75mm/ 3 inches in diameter when it dries, so make it a bit bigger to allow shrinkage.

7. You’re done!
Place it on the windowsill to dry for at least a week, longer if atmospheric conditions are humid.

When it’s dry, please send it to this address:

The Pyramid Project,
Box Bush Barn,
Rodley
Near Westbury on Severn,
Gloucestershire

and it will become a valuable part of The Pyramid Project.

If you have made too many to post easily, please contact Sybil to arrange delivery or collection of your snowballs.

Thank You!
