The Artist
The artist is Sybil Edwards, based in Gloucestershire and working with recycled paper. She is a native of the Yukon and grew up surrounded by pristine white snowy expanses.
Her art journey has developed along the route of decorative art and fine art practice with paper craft at the core.
Now, she has decided to work in a narrow discipline using only paper snowballs, and under the somewhat playful and feisty title, ‘The Snowball Gang’ thus allowing her the scope to expand her creative field. She and The Snowball Gang are one!
Their artworks embrace ad hoc creations in the landscape as well as carefully planned formal constructions involving pyramids. Each practice informs the other and is always under-pinned by the ongoing craft of making more and more snowballs, if necessary involving help from the wider community, and in return, creating ways to fund community action.
